The Green Ghast: Sunset Cocktail and Newest Absinthe Mythos Cocktail
2 oz Berkshire Mountain Distillery Greylock Gin
1/2 oz Green Chartreuse
1/2 oz Lemon Juice
1/4 oz St. George Absinthe
Rinse a chilled coup or cocktail glass with a couple barspoons of Absinthe (but don’t toss it away, you fool!) Mix all other ingredients over ice and strain into said Absinthe rinsed glass. Fhtagn.
“After a moment something about the size of a small horse hopped out into the grey twilight, and Carter turned sick at the aspect of that scabrous and unwholesome beast, whose face is so curiously human despite the absence of a nose, a forehead, and other important particulars.”
—H. P. Lovecraft, The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath
This may just be a newest addition to my list of Mythos Absinthe Cocktails. Based on the Green Ghost Cocktail found on Kindred Cocktails (http://www.kindredcocktails.com/cocktail/green-ghost) this trades Lemon Juice for the Lime and adds an Absinthe rinse to the glass (which I felt it desperately needed). I was getting a little low on Gin so I picked up a bottle of Greylock Gin from Berkshire Mountain Distillery today. I’ve been meaning to pick one up for a while now to support a local distillery and I must say that I’m impressed with how well it mixes. This may be my new go-to dry Gin.
Despite the name of this drink, it’s not ghastly at all.
