Green Jenkin Cocktail Revisited
3/4 oz Redemption Rye
3/4 oz Green Chartreuse
3/4 oz Lucid Absinthe
1 bsp Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
2 dashes Hudson Standard Love Struck Bitters
2 dashes Dr. Adam Elmegirab’s Aphrodite Bitters
Stir everything with ice, a little more than usual for a bit of additional dilution. Strain into a chilled Old Fashioned glass with some ice.
Working from home tomorrow and class has been cancelled so it seemed like a good day to revisit an old Mythos Cocktail that really needs some work. I’ll freely admit that my initial love for this Cocktail was how awesome the Sunset Cocktail pic for it came out. After making it for the family while continuing our quest to drink every drink in my old 2017 calendar last Christmas though, I wasn’t really happy with how it came out.
When I made it at Christmas I also strayed from my original method of making it was to build it in a glass filled with ice instead of stirring and straining. My guess is that by the time I actually got around to doing a critical taste of the drink after a long photo session due to the stunning sunset, the drink was quite diluted and the overbearing unbalance was quite tempered. Even now as I drink this while typing, it’s getting nicer and nicer to drink as the ice melts. I also think the use of these bitters helped a bit as well.
It’s still significantly unbalanced but I did name the drink after my own pseudonym, so…
