Mythos Absinthe Cocktail: Daiquiri of the Albino Penguin
1 1/2 oz Plantation 3 Star White Rum
3/4 oz Lime Juice
1/2 oz Absinthe La Capricieuse
1/2 oz Simple Syrup
Shake everything with ice and strain into a chilled Cocktail glass. Garnish with a Lime wheel.
Haven’t had much cause to post recently so I figured I’d post this addition to the Mythos Absinthe Cocktails. I could have sworn I posted this before (way back in November), but just found it in the Drafts folder…
I figured I needed a Daiquiri in the mix of Mythos Absinthe Cocktails here. This is based on one of the White Lion cocktail recipes I found that was a Daiquiri variant. Now, this version of The White Lion I built off of is a bit different than others with the name “White Lion Cocktail” but similar enough for a variant called The Albino Penguin.
For the Absinthe, I needed a good Blanche and wanted one that wasn’t overly sweet nor Anise forward. I went with the lovely La Capricieuse from the Artemisia Distillery as it’s strong and more Wormwood heavy.
It took a bit to decide whether to use Lemon or Lime juice. I ended up using Lime for this as it’s most fitting in a Daiquiri and, against all expectation, it gave me a whiter color in comparison to the drink made with Lemon. I don’t know if using a Meyer Lemon had anything to do with the more pronounced color in the drink, but it was significant.
