Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! For this ostentatious Drinking Holiday I decided to poke around the webs for something a little different. I came across this particular drink which seemed to suite all of my desired for a good St. Paddy’s Day imbibing.
It has Irish Whiskey, Absinthe and other green stuff along with a promise of ghosts and pirates. That said, when trying to find more about this mysterious Irish Pirate Captain Ghost, all I could find was this little bit on the often misleading Liquor.com and a whole bunch of information on a TV guy who trained a lot of dogs. Shame, as it’s a lovely drink for a tiki and I do like drinking to Ghost Pirates.
Interestingly, this drink calls for a Ginger Liqueur (Domaine De Canton in the original) and I had this Bottle of King’s Ginger kicking around for a while that I never opened. I bought it quite some time ago to see how it fared against the now-discontinued SNAP Liqueur but I guess I never got around to comparing the two. Even though I could have sword I did a comparison, the unopened bottle told me otherwise. I guess I was thinking of the also discontinued ROOT liqueur from the same people. I do have an original Ginger forward drink I have yet to get just right, maybe I’ll give it a try with this stuff. Maybe I should get a bottle of Domaine De Canton as well which I’ve heard is a better tasting pour (though not nearly as strong).
