Pandemic Dram: Deadpan Eddy

1/4 oz Campari
1/4 oz Cointreau
1 1/2 oz Eddy Bar Ginger Grapefruit mixer
Shake everything with ice and strain into a chilled Coup glass. Garnish with a citrus twist.
Based on the Deadpan Fix from the Death & Co Black Book, this makes rather good use of the Eddy’s Ginger Grapefruit mixer. Death & Co is one of the premier cocktail bars in the country and maybe someday I’ll make it there. Well, technically I did go there on a day trip to NYC with The Pretty One, but little did we know that it was going to be closed that day for a private party. No sign, no post on social media, just a dude unlocking the front door absently letting those of us know who standing in a not unsubstantial line waiting to get it as they opened. I was furious and swore to never go back, though, I really do want to go back. Places like The Eddy make that trip a little less important though.
This week I went down to The Eddy Bar here in Providence to pick up the cocktail mixes they had available this time around. Along with the Mai Tai and Ginger Grapefruit mixes I ordered, much to my surprise and unexpected joy, they also included a bottle of Orgeat and a bottle of Falernum! I’ve made my own Pistachio Orgeat and Falernum in the past, though I guess I never posted anything about the Falernum. They can be fun to make and quite rewarding as they’re way better than anything I’ve tried over the counter so far, but they take time. More often than not, though, I just want some on hand. Well, just want good stuff on hand. All that said, come back later and I’ll see what I can make with them.
