Drawlloween 2020 Block 5: The NEKRORATTIES RAT-O-BILLY TOMB BOP!
1 1/2 oz El Maestro PX Sherry
1 oz Averna Amaro
2 dashes Fee Brothers Rhubarb Bitters (+ 1 for garnish)
1 1/2 oz Crabbie’s Ginger Beer
Stir first three ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled Flute. Top with Ginger Beer and garnish with a Lemon peel and another dash of bitters.
For this final drink for the Halloween season I wanted to do an original. This is based on Jeff Grdinich’s Hat Trick cocktail that I intended to make much sweeter as a Halloween Treat. I am going to add this to my list of Blackened Cocktails as I subbed in the wonderful Averna in place of the nice, but more bitter Aperol. Since I was going sweet, I also subbed in the sweet PX Sherry for the dry Amontillado, and Ginger Beer for the Prosecco to make the treat a little more tricky. It’s a light and effervescent drink that is quite spicy sweet, really not resembling the original in any way, shape or form other than they both have some form of Sherry and Rhubarb Bitters. I kinda feel that this drink would also work in a Collins with Ice, or even a Mule cup if one was so inclined. I did end up filling the whole flute with more Ginger Beer than the 1 1/2 stated, which for me, made the drink a lot better.
That wraps up this year’s Drawlloween. I hope you liked it and I’ll try to do something for Christmas again this year, I haven’t done anything since the 12 Days of Xmas Movies a couple years ago. That said, I’m going to take a bit of a break from social media for a while as our world collapses after the election. I’ll hopefully have more here at the end of the year if there is a future end of the year and not a complete end of all things.
