1 ½ oz. Rye Whiskey
2 oz. Hot Earl Grey Tea
2 oz. Apple Cider mulled in Cinnamon, Clove, and Allspice
½ oz. Maple Syrup
¼ oz. Pimento Dram
3-4 dashes Cranberry Bitters
Steep the Tea, Mull the Cider, then add everything to a warm mug. Stir and garnish with a Cinnamon stick.
With the world as it is these days under the pandemic, with officials setting up holiday lockdowns, I’m going to refrain from a BS post about what to be thankful for as it would feel forced and disingenuous. So, here is a very pleasant, warm drink for the holidays that I’m planning on scaling up to about a gallon when I do visit family. It may need a better name but the scaled up version should go something like this:
1 ½ pints Rye
2 pints Water
3 pints Cider
¾ pint Maple
¼ pint Dram
dousing of Bitters
Throw everything into a slow cooker with Cinnamon Sticks, Whole Cloves, Whole Allspice and a bunch of Earl Grey Tea bags wrapped in a steeping bag. Serve when warm, steeped, and before the weight of the cold, harsh world crushes the last straw of your beleaguered soul.
